Psychological Well-Being measures the extent to which an expression conveys positive emotional functioning, effective engagement with life, and intact personal coping capacity. It encompasses enjoyment, hope, affection, concentration, and the sense of being able to manage everyday demands.
Low Psychological Well-Being
Expressions activating this band show little clear evidence of positive emotional functioning and may instead contain diffuse strain, burden, worthlessness, irritation, or unrelated factual content. The state conveyed is one in which well-being is absent, muted, or only weakly represented.
Moderate Psychological Well-Being
Expressions activating this band describe mixed but recognizable well-being, with references to enjoyment, hope, chosen activity, and social engagement alongside effort, irritability, slowed functioning, or interference from pain. The state conveyed is functional but uneven positive adjustment.
High Psychological Well-Being
Expressions activating this band describe clearly positive functioning marked by enjoyment of life, readiness to face problems, warmth toward close others, and sustained concentration. The state conveyed is emotionally connected, capable, and actively engaged.
